David W. Barnes

July 7, 1953 - January 11, 2025

David W. Barnes, 71, passed away January 11, 2025 in Casa Grande He was born in Midland, AR on July 7, 1953 to Walter and Mildred Barnes. The second oldest child of five, the family moved to AZ not long after David was a toddler. David attended Buckeye High School and graduated in 1976. He worked doing farming before being hired as a Parks Maintenance worker with the City of Chandler. He was later promoted to Parks Maintenance Supervisor, a position he held until his retirement in 2007. He received many awards from his job for high standing goals, as well as numerous appreciation awards. He was highly thought of by fellow employees and his superiors. He held a very high work ethic, which he passed onto his children and grandchildren.

His favorite color was yellow and he loved yellow roses. David had a loving demeanor about him. No matter what anyone said or did to him he forgave them and moved on. If someone needed help, he would try to find a way to help them.

In 1978 David met and married the love of his life Patsy. Together they raised four boys and made a home. He loved to talk about raising Pumpkin Halsey Chickens and he loved wood working. He made a 6' X 6' dining room table for his family. That table is still in his house today and has many years of use.

David's favorite holiday was Christmas. He would say it's not about the gifts or decorations, that it was the Lord's birthday. As long as you have Jesus, you have everything you need. He loved the Lord.

David will be greatly missed by all. If he were here he'd tell you to pay it forward to others, because the help you gave someone just might be the help they need. Be an Angel, help others if you can. This is David's legacy.

David is survived by his wife of 48 years Patricia "Patsy" Barnes; Children Phil (Vicki) Barnes, Robert (Skianne) Barnes, Joshua (Garrett) Barnes, and Benjamin Barnes; sister Diane Barnes (Luis); grandchildren Jared, Karson, Darren, Bryce, Alexius, and Nathan; great grandchild Amelia.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Mildred Barnes; siblings Jerry Barnes, Kenny Barnes and Joan Barnes; grandchildren Jaya and Lil Ben.

There will be a memorial service February 22, 2025 at Villago Community Park in Casa Grande from 8:30am - 12:30pm.
