Eugene Joseph Wehe

Gene Wehe, of Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was born in Loyal, Wisconsin on September 28, 1941 to Eugene and Alice (Schmidtke) Wehe, and grew up working alongside his many brothers and sisters on the family farm. He served four years in the United States Air Force, where he was an air traffic controller and a paratrooper. On June 6, 1964, Gene married Carol Richter and they started their family. In 1968, they moved to Alaska where Gene began his career as an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration. He worked at various airports throughout his career, from Kotzebue to Juneau, where he took an early retirement in the spring of 1994. Gene had a passion for flying. He always had a plane while living in Alaska and he loved giving rides to family and friends. After retirement, Gene and Carol began living the RV lifestyle. They spent much of the next 25 years traveling around the country, including annual treks to North Dakota where Gene enjoyed summer work on the farm with his brother-in-law and nephew.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Ronnie, Roger, David, Dick and Duane; and sisters, Karen and Shirley (Phillips). He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Wehe of Casa Grande, AZ; son, Paul (Dawn) Wehe and daughter, Barbara (Scot) Fiscus, both of Juneau, AK; brothers, Bill Wehe and Jim Wehe, both of Yucca Valley, CA, and Mike (Carol) Wehe of Janesville, WI; sisters, Kathy Niswonger and Margaret (Harry) Scheel, both of Marshfield, WI; and grandchildren, Trevar Fiscus, Jaena Fiscus, and Alex Wehe.
A memorial service for Gene will be held on December 29, 2021, at Sunscape RV Park in Casa Grande, Arizona.
