Kaye A. Mahoney

October 18, 1947 - October 25, 2024

Kaye A Mahoney, 77, of Casa Grande, AZ, passed away on October 25, 2024, in the presence of her husband and friends.

She was born on October 18, 1947, to Rollan and Dorothy Shaver in Alma, Michigan.

Kaye attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Education.  She also earned her Master’s in the discipline.  She taught in public education for 35 years in Montana.  There was many a day spent grading papers by hand sitting in her living room.  Those that knew her remember her for her love of education and her teacher’s voice.  For such a small woman, she could command a room rather quickly with her “pay attention” voice.  Her versatility was evident, as she taught nearly all the grades in elementary school over her career.

She moved to Eastern Montana in her late twenties and then to Seeley Lake, Montana where she stayed until 2004 when she moved to Arizona to begin her retirement.  While living in Seeley she and her husband of 34 years, Mike Mahoney, enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing and lots of camping.  Even while camping with friends and their children she brought the classroom to the woods and entertained the kids.

She was the glue that held the family together and was always more concerned about you than herself.   In her later years she enjoyed spending time with friends, sewing, crafting, traveling and social golf.  She was never that serious about her golf game, but in her later life she just enjoyed being with everyone.

Kaye is survived by her husband Mike Mahoney, children Jeremy Aumaugher and Kate Logsdon, grandchildren Ian Aumaugher, Emma Aumaugher and Cooper Logsdon.  She is also survived by four stepchildren Sean Mahoney, Gina Mahoney, Cari Pritzcau and Michelle Broehl and one step grandchild Mila.

The family will not be holding formal Funeral Services, but memorials or donations in Kaye’s name may be made to Montana Professional Teaching Foundation via mail at 1232 East Sixth Avenue, Helena, MT 59601or electronically by googling the Montana Professional Teaching Foundation website and clicking on the Contribute Here button.  You can check the box to donate in honor or memory of someone.
