LeAnn Fleishman
May 9, 1950 - November 27, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of LeAnn Fleishman on November 27th, 2024, at the age of 74. She never stopped fighting her battle with ovarian cancer. While we mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
LeAnn was born May 9th, 1950 to the Late Richard (Dick) and Vera Schroeder in Beach, North Dakota. LeAnn was an unexpected surprise after her mother delivered her twin sister Lynda first. LeAnn graduated from Dickinson State University with a degree in education. While at Dickinson State she held the school record for the 400. She worked as a PE teacher and taught drivers education. She moved to IL and drove a truck for Jewel Tea. She also worked for TaylorMade.
In 1976 she met the love of her life Dennis Fleishman. The two dated for several years and finally married in October of 1991. They lived in Crystal Lake, IL. They had a Brittany spaniel named Misty whom they adored. In 2019 they retired and relocated to Province, a 55+ community in Maricopa, AZ. She was able to participate in many of the fun activities there. She loved being able to ride her bike, enjoying the pools, playing Mexican train, bocce ball, water aerobics and several other fun activities the community provided. She made amazing friends and knew all the dogs in the neighborhood. She and Dennis loved gambling at many different locations; her most recent favorite was Laughlin, Nevada. While on a trip to Laughlin they each “hit” the coveted royal flush one afternoon while playing video poker.
LeAnn is also survived by her brother, Mick (Nancy) Schroeder; her sister, Lynda Forster; her nieces, Kristy (Carl) Isonhart, Jana (Keith) Parejko, and Michelle (Gabe) Lagalo; her nephews, Ryan Forster and Kevin (Christine) Forster; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Frank and Libby Fleishman. LeAnn shared a very close bond with her mother Vera. She spent a lot of time in Platteville checking in on her. They loved the short drive to Dubuque to gamble. LeAnn passed her love of gambling and card playing on to her nieces and nephews when she and her mother took them all to Las Vegas in 2001. We are carrying on the card playing traditions, which she acquired from her dad, down to future generations. Her brother referred to her as a card shark.
LeAnn did not want a formal celebration of her life. Instead, let's keep her alive in the fond memories we have of her. If you would like to make a donation in her honor, she loved animals (especially dogs) and visited the Gud Ark Animal Sanctuary in Maricopa.
